Two midwives have been suspended after the deaths of a mother and her newborn baby at a maternity unit in east London.Tebussum Ali died in January, five days after going into labour at Queen's Hospital in Romford. Staff failed to spot signs of a ruptured womb and then tried to resuscitate her with an oxygen mask which was not connected to a supply.

The hospital has admitted medical negligence.
