Two of the biggest celebrity philanthropists, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, showed they still care about Brad's home state of Missouri as last week they revealed that they donated half a million dollars to help the struggling victims of the recent devastating Joplin tornado.The generous Hollywood couple handed over $500,000 to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, which will help to rebuild the area in Missouri which was devastated by the natural disaster.

Pitt - who is a Missouri native and also attended the state's university - issued a statement about the donation.

He said: "With the devastating loss of 30 per cent of the city, the Joplin community faces great challenges ahead. "Having spent most of my childhood there, I know these people to be hardworking, humble and especially resilient.

"The locally based Community Foundation of the Ozarks will be working shoulder to shoulder with these Joplin residents for the long haul as they rebuild their lives. We, too, hope to further help with these rebuilding efforts."

Jolie added: "Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin who have lost so much." The pair are famous for their hefty donations to charity and have given millions of dollars to good causes over the last few years.
