Family awarded $90M

Family awarded $90M - A family in Maryland is feeling a small sense of justice and relief according to a report from the Associated Press on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. The family was awarded $90M by a Prince George County jury for the life of their 13-year-old daughter that they lost.

Ashley Davis was 13-years-old when she was struck by a car while trying to cross the street and get to her bus stop. Davis did not make it back from her injuries and ended up unfortunately passing away....REPORTED..examiner

The family of Davis sue the Prince George's County Board of Education after Ashley's death from her injuries on Sept. 1, 2009.

John Costello, the Davis' attorney, put up arguments that it was an issue of safety not properly being in place. He said that the school system did not provide safe, adequate transportation for the students in the area.

A six-member jury decided earlier in April on the wrongful death verdict. On Wednesday morning, the family was officially awarded $90 million in the case.

Costello is sure that the school system will appeal the decision of the court.
